Vancouver approaching 3 million population, The Canada Line and a video

Personal, Random Chatter, Vancouver

Greater Vancouver.  Its about 75km by 64km.  A region sorrounded by water and connected by bridges, it welcomes visitors from around the world.  Every year around 1 million people visit Vancouver on cruise ships and the airport takes 16 million people by air per year.  More people, more cars, more trucks but the land area of Greater Vancouver hasn’t grown.  Congestion is frustrating for everyone but in 2009 things will change.

In late 2009, the Canada Line will be complete.

  • 16 new stations (3 in Sea Island, 9 in Vancouver, and 4 in Richmond) with over 200 departures every day and a station at the airport.
  • 100,000 riders per day
  • Airline check-in and boarding passes at Waterfront
  • A park and ride facility at Bridgeport Road

Combined with hosting the Olympics in 2010, Vancouver will see growth continue for years to come. Visit www.canadaline.ca for more info on this incredible project and feat of engineering or watch the video.
