I wouldn’t call myself a Wordpress expert quite just yet. Excerpts, for example, are something I still haven’t got my head quite around yet but I understand what they are for the most part – optional text that summarizes your post. As you can see on my home page, though, I have figured out excerpts and how to make them appear (I can send you my templates if you like). Now mind you, there are still a few things I expect to tweak (I hate the line break and also want to retain HTML tags) but it turns out Windows Live Writer offers you except capabilities right out of the box! Check this out!

By the way, for those who don’t know, Windows Live Writer is desktop blogging software for Windows available for free from Microsoft. If you have a blog like Wordpress, Typepad or MSN Spaces and you don’t use a desktop tool of some kind, you are really missing out on the art of blogging.
